Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong today handed over the remaining stock of school uniforms to the Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha at the Ministry of Education today (March 9).
On January 13, the government received 30% of the fabric, which was officially handed over to the Minister by the acting Chinese Ambassador, Hu Wei.
While completing the total of 70% of school uniform materials donated by the Chinese government, Minister Premajayantha accepted the remaining 40% of the stock today.
The remaining 30% of uniforms will be obtained from local suppliers
Accordingly the Minister says that it is the government’s expectation to complete the distribution of official uniforms before the commencement of the new academic term.
These uniforms are given to the students of government schools and government-aided schools as well as the student monks who are pursuing studies.
