A new political alliance named as the ‘Podujana Eksath Nidahas Peramuna’ (United Freedom Front) has been launched by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs in support of President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has been appointed as its Chairman with Minister Ramesh Pathirana serving as the Secretary.
The launch event which was held in Colombo featured several prominent ministers and MPs from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) who are backing independent presidential candidate Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Subsequently, representatives from the various parties supporting the Podujana Eksath Nidahas Peramuna signed the formal agreement, officially establishing the alliance.
