Salaries of all Government employees for the month of May will be paid on May 21, Finance Ministry Secretary S.R. Attygalle stated.
It was decided to pay the May salaries of Government employees earlier than scheduled due to the movement restrictions that have been imposed as well as because their April salaries were paid before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, the Finance Ministry said in a media release.
The Operations Department of the Treasury has already issued the relevant circular on the instructions of Finance Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, it added.
