The second reading of the Appropriation (Amendment) Bill passed in Parliament with a majority of 115 votes. 120 votes were for the bill while five were against it and 43 abstained.
Currently, the bill is under Committee Stage.
Earlier, the main Opposition party Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and a group of Sri Lanka Podhujana Peramuna (SLPP) decided to refrain from voting for the second reading of the budget.
