A senior Police officer from the Monaragala division has been arrested for the possession of 650 Cannabis plants and a scanner machine .
The Officer was identified as SSP Sisira Kumara.
A police driver and another policeman deployed for duty at the official residence along with two others from Moratuwa too have been arrested.
The arrests were made on a tip-off to the Special Task Force.
A Police spokesman said that the cannabis plants were kept to be dried up before converting it to cannabis to be used.
The scanner machine is used to detect underground metal devices and usually used for treasure hunting.
