Seven fishermen were sentenced to death by the Colombo High Court today after being found guilty for hijacking a fishing boat and killing three fishermen off the southern coast in 2012.
The fishermen had set out to sea from Tangalle.
Two fishermen had jumped into the sea and escaped.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
