Seventy Buddhist monks from Laos, Myanmar and Thailand arrived in the country and will take part in a month-long paada yatra travelling to a number of places and helping out poor families.
The monks will travel by foot from Colombo to Gampaha, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kandy and Sri Pada. This year marks the 270th anniversary of the Siam Chapter.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau organised a welcoming ceremony at the lobby of the BIA.
