A severe lightning warning has been issued for today evening and night time.
The Meterology Department said Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North Western provinces and Galle, Matara and Mannar districts will experience severe lightning.
Public is advised to seek shelter indoors and avoid using wired telephones and electrical appliances.
"Beware of fallen trees and power lines. Avoid open areas such as paddy fields, tea plantations and open water bodies. Avoid travelling in open vehicles such as motorbikes," the advisory said.
