Showers are due across many parts of the island during the day or night today, says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, North-central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the day or night.
In the meantime, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo during the night.
Winds will be south-westerly to southerly over the sea areas around the island and may strike at will be 20-30 kmph whilst the speed may shoot up to 40-45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Mannar.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Mannar will be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island will remain moderate.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thunder showers although; temporary strong gusts of wind and very turbulent waters are likely to occur during thunder showers transiently.
