Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella today defended a move to provide only one dose of Sputnik V as an expert committee had approved the plan.
Minister Rambukwella told the post cabinet news conference that Dr S.M Arnold, of the Health Ministry had headed the expert committee and included four other members.
Journalists questioned the minister as to why health authorities had got the recipients’ consent that they were agreeable to receive only one dose of the Sputnik V vaccine. People’s signatures have been obtained in this regard during the vaccination programme in Kandy.
However, Dr Hemantha Herath, Deputy Director General of Health Services on Monday (31) said he was not aware about getting recipient’s consent to obtain only one dose.
