Two persons, including a social media activist who operated a fake account as ‘Little Harts’ and swindled Rs 2.9 million have been arrested and will be produced in courts today, Police said.
The suspects were identified as Senadheerage Dulan Maheshitha, 28 from Nochchiyagama and Manikkuge Sandaruwan Silva, 23 years old, from Palaviya.
The two suspects had offered various prizes through a scam they operated via a website and fraudulently collected money, Police siad.They had claimed that they were supporting families of the cancer patients.
They were arrested from the Kalpitiya and Norochcholai areas and will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.
