Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena commenced a special party leaders' meeting in Parliament a short while ago to decide how to proceed with parliamentary proceedings given the current situation.
The Speaker convened the meeting at 2.00pm after many MPs from the opposition and even some in the government called for such a meeting, pointing out that they could no longer proceed with the original agenda given that the Cabinet of Ministers has resigned and only four new ministers have so far been sworn in.
