Chairperson of Sri Lanka Tourism - Kimarli Fernando has resigned from her post with immediate effect.
She has stated so in a letter on Tuesday to the new Minister of Tourism, Harin Fernando, saying he would like to appoint his own board of directors to the various state institutions involving tourism.
Ms. Fernando was appointed in early 2020 by the Gotabaya Rajapaksa administration but has been having huge disagreements with sections of the industry particularly over her decision to amend the Tourism Act.
