SriLankan Airline returns first leased aircraft to Airbus France

News

After 23 years of service, SriLankan Airlines' first A-330-200 aircraft is being prepared to be delivered back to France after the completion of the lease

Sri Lankan Airlines has acquired these planes on a lease basis from France's Airbus, which manufactures them.

This aircraft is the first aircraft that Sri Lankan Airlines has acquired under the A.300-200 category.

This aircraft has 18 business class seats and 251 economy class seats.

This aircraft was used by Sri Lankan Airlines for long-distance destinations including London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Melbourne and Moscow. The aircraft has completed 100,000 flight hours.

The aircraft narrowly escaped being caught in the LTTE attack on the Katunayake Airport in 2001.

“This aircraft owned by Sri Lankan Airlines, which is still in very good condition, has completed its service and lease period, so it will be taken to France's Air Bus Company and handed over in the next few days”, an Airline spokesperson said.
