Stamp lovers have expressed disappointment over the fact that two rival stamp exhibitions are being held over the same four days in different areas of Colombo.
The Sri Lanka Independent Philatelic Association (SLIPA) has organised a stamp exhibition at Colombo's Public Library on June 15, 16, 17 and 18. The Postal Department's Philatelic Bureau meanwhile, has organised its own stamp exhibition at the Sri Lanka Post Head Office, Colombo 10 over the same four days.
Some stamp lovers have questioned whether this amounts to a rift between the SLIPA and the Philatelic Bureau, which had been organising stamp exhibitions jointly for many years. They note that it is extremely difficult for stamp lovers and school children who come from afar to see two different exhibitions in different parts of the city.
