Several roads in the Walasmulla area are underwater while the Deniyaya, Akuressa and Mulatiyana area of the Matara district have been affected by floods.
The schools in Deniyaya have been closed down while Zonal Education Directors have been authority to decide on closing schools in the Matara district.
Several areas in the Galle district too have been affected.
