TNA MP M.A. Sumanthiran has complained to the British High Commission over the reduction by the government of his special security arrangements.
The complaint was made during a meeting with the British High Commissioner in Colombo Sarah Hulton.
Canada, Germany, North Macedonia, Montenegro and the UK are the Core Group on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council meeting.
Mr Sumanthiran’s security was reduced this week by replacing the STF personnel with policemen.
State Minister Sarath Weerasekara told Parliament this week that Mr Sumanthiran’s security was reduced as he had taken part in a protest against security advice and therefore the STF cannot continue providing him with security.
He said that security by the STF was reduced as they cannot take the responsibility of providing security when the MP was not following the instructions.
