Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a 63-year-old woman at a private hospital in Trincomalee town.
The victim's body was discovered early this morning (5) from the third floor of the hospital. She had been stabbed with a sharp weapon.
Police said the victim was married to a doctor who is currently overseas. She had been living in a room belonging to her husband on the third floor of the private hospital. Initial investigations have revealed that she had been murdred by her brother-in-law as she was making her way to her room.
The 55-year-old suspect has been arrested and police say he too had been living in a room on the third floor of the hospital. A motive for the killing is yet to be established. The body is currently at the location pending a magisterial inquiry and Trincomalee Police are investigating.
