A 41-year-old individual who had been wanted for aiding and abetting reorganization efforts of the TTE has been arrested from a quarantine centre in Mulliyawalai.

The suspect, a resident of Trincomalee, had fled Sri Lanka to Qatar in 2019 and had been aiding and abetting efforts to reorganize the LTTE, Police Spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General (SDIG) of Police Ajith Rohana said.

The Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) had obtained an Interpol 'Blue Notice' against the suspect, and he had accordingly been deported by authorities in Qatar to Sri Lanka.

The TID arrested the suspect yesterday after he had completed his 14-day period of quarantine at the quarantine centre in Mulliyawalai, SDIG Rohana further said. He is to be detained and questioned by the TID under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).
