Railway security officers have shot and injured a suspect attempting to steal railway property, police said.
Three suspects had stolen equipment from the Railway Department's Ratmalana railway factory yesterday (26) morning and a suspect had attempted to stab a security officer.
The security officer had shot at the suspects injuring one while the other two suspects had escaped.
The injured, a 51 year old resident of Moratuwa, was admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital and is currently under police protection.
Mount Lavinia police is conducting further investigation.
