Five persons who cultivated Cannabis across three acres of the Panama Vihara Pokuna forest reserve were arrested and produced to court on Friday (December 9), Police said today.
On Wednesday, the Special Task Force Shastrawala Camp conducted a raid on five suspects, who had illegally cleared three acres of the Panama Vihara Pokuna forest reserve and cultivated Cannabis.
The suspects subsequently arrested, aged 32,38,47,49 and 62, all residents of Siyambalanduwa, were handed over to the Panama Police for further investigation, where the suspects were produced to the Pottuvil Magistrate Court on Friday.
The raid was conducted by the STF Shastrawala Camp officers including Camp Commanding Officer Inspector D. M. R. M. K. Dissanayake, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police S. B. Bandusiri.
