Four suspects were arrested by the Special Task Force for hunting animals in the Somawathi forest reserve, STF said today.
According to information received, the STF Kanthale Camp had conducted a raid on four suspects on Thursday (December 15) at Pansal Godella of the Somawathi forest reserve area in Serunuwara Police domain.
The suspects had engaged in hunting animals of the Somawathi forest reserve using a locally produced gun and transported the meat.
The suspects, residents of Serunuwara, were arrested while in possession of a gun, two knives and two motor bicycles and were handed over to the Serunuwara Ranger A. M. C. Madhuranga.
The raid was conducted by the officials of the STF Kanthale Camp, including the Kanthale Camp Second Commanding Officer, N. A. P. Mangala under the guidance of Senior Superintendent of Police B. S. N. Gunarathne.
