Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Jaffna District MP M.A. Sumanthiran had a narrow escape when his vehicle skidded off the road and struck the railings in the middle of the Katunayake Expressway during the early hours of this morning.
The incident had occurred at around 3.30am during heavy rain near the exit of the Katunayake Expressway. The vehicle had flipped over thrice during the incident but Mr Sumanthiran, his driver and the security officer inside the vehicle all escaped unhurt.
The MP told Times Online that he was on his way for a court case in Kalmunai when the incident occurred. “I managed to get into another vehicle and continue my journey but my vehicle was heavily damaged in the accident,” he said. (PCK)
