A Tamil National Alliance (TNA) delegation led by Leader and Parliamentarian R. Sampanthan met the US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina B. Teplitz yesterday.
The discussion was mainly focused on the current political situation in the country. TNA leader R. Sampanthan stressed the need for a political solution for the ethnic conflict in the country even after a decade passed since the war came to an end in 2009.
He said he is hopeful that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has the political will to discuss the aspirations of Tamil-speaking people in the country. He said TNA is yet to be informed of a fresh date for a meeting with President Rajapaksa after the last scheduled meeting was cancelled at the last minute.
