Tax on senior citizen FD interest earning of less than Rs.100,000 removed
The five percent withholding tax on monthly interest earnings of less than Rs.100,000 from senior citizens’ Fixed Deposits will be removed starting from January 01, State Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.
The Minister said there have been complaints from senior citizens that the tax has left them struggling with reduced monthly income.
