Ceylon Teacher Services Union (CTSU) today (29) lodged a complaint at the Bribery Commission over irregularities in awarding foreign post graduate scholarships to those in the education administrative sector.
CTSU’s General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe said they requested the Bribery Commission to commence investigation on the selection process the Education Ministry followed when awarding full scholarships to 54 education administrative officers to follow postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom.
“The World Bank is providing financial allocation for the scholarships and about eight million rupees is to be spent on one scholarship holder. The method of selection lacks transparency. Therefore we urge the Bribery Commission to look into this,” he said.
