General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva commenting on the NPP victory at the election said they have understood the gravity of the mandate given to them.
Addressing a press conference he explained that the people have vested a huge trust in them and therefore they must preserve that trust, as the victory they received is not a simple victory.
He said particularly as they have won the parliamentary elections by defeating powerful traditionally established parties it was special. He extend their gratitude to voters as well as persons who paved the way to the landslide victory obtained by their party.
He added that people have refused politicians who lies and deceives people to stay in power, “Therefore we have considered the old elitist authoritarian political era have come to an end” he said
