President meets ITAK members
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake held a discussion with parliamentarians and representatives of the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) today. Issues that have arisen in the North and East regions, and the need to ensure reconciliation between all races were among the topics discussed.
Committee appointed to inquire into conduct MP Dayasiri Jayasekara
Speaker of the House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne informed Parliament that a three-member committee has been appointed to investigate a complaint made by Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala regarding the conduct of Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara which took place inside the Chamber on September 24.
Namal Resigns from Parliamentary Business Committee
MP Namal Rajapaksa has resigned from the Committee on Parliamentary Business Committee and MP D.V. Chanaka has been appointed to fill the vacancy.
Colombo Fort and Badulla two night mail cancelled
Due to an earth slip that has obstructed the railway line between Ohiya and Idalgashinna on the Up-country Railway Line following heavy rainfall two night mail trains operating between Colombo Fort and Badulla vice versa railway stations will be cancelled, Sri Lanka Railways announced.
