Train movements on the upcountry line were disrupted last night (November 1) due to a tree that toppled into the rail line close to the Demodara Railway Station.
Two trains running from Colombo to Badulla up and down, were functioning at the time of the incident.
Accordingly, the major accident was averted as a Railway Traffic Inspector promptly alerted the Station Master of Demodara Railway Station after noticing the collapse of the tree .
Later this morning (2), parts of the fallen tree were removed and presently both tracks have been opened for train services.
