Two persons were injured when the Special Task Force (STF) opened fire at a cab which tried to run over personnel at a checkpoint in Point Pedro today, police said.
The injured persons who allegedly involved in sand mining activities in the area are currently admitted to Point Pedro Base hospital for treatment.
Earlier STF personnel setup a checkpoint in Mulli, a coastal area of Point Pedro to prevent ongoing illegal sand mining activities. The shooting incident happened when the cab tried to overran the road barrier put up by the personnel. (Pix by N.Lohathayalan)
