Two suspects wanted for a robbery of gold items worth Rs. 1.5 million in Chilaw have been arrested, Police said today (March 17).
The Chilaw Police had received a complaint on Wednesday in regard to a robbery of gold items worth almost Rs. 1.5 million and had arrested the suspects yesterday.
The robbery was carried out by a female aged 41 and the gold was kept near the male suspect aged 45. Both suspects are residents of Chilaw.
Upon further investigations, Police were able to find the stolen gold items, including two gold necklaces, a gold pendant and a pair of earrings.
The suspects would be produced to the Chilaw Magistrate Court today, while the Chilaw Police are conducting further investigations.
