The Wattala Police has seized a lorry transporting 789, 500 narcotic capsules and taken two suspects into custody.
Police Media Unit said that acting on a tip-off, officers stopped and searched a lorry traveling towards Colombo near the Wattala Police Station last afternoon. They discovered the large stock of narcotic capsules inside 12 boxes in the lorry.
Two suspects who were in the lorry at the time of the search were arrested. The suspects are residents of Kalpitiya aged 33 and 37 years, police said. Wattala Police are investigating.

The United States has told Sri Lanka that the disposition of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr and its crew is a matter for Colombo to resolve under its own laws and international obligations, while signalling it is in active talks with Sri Lanka to contain Iran’s threat to US interests.
The government today granted permission for an Iranian warship with 208 on board to enter the country.
