Two categories of locally-manufactured ‘Aspirin’ used in state run hospitals has been withdrawn by the Medical Supplies Division (MSD) of the Health Ministry after they failed to meet the required standards.
The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) had carried out the tests.
The Health Ministry earlier this week withheld until further testing a batch of propofol anaesthetic that was recently procured from an Indian company and for which the NMRA had waived registration, thereby allowing it to bypass domestic quality, safety and efficacy checks.
