The Habaraduwa Police have launched a special investigation following a complaint lodged by the Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health (MOH) regarding the theft of 30 doses of Sinopharm vaccine.
Police have arrested a driver and a minor employee of the Habaraduwa MOH office in connection with the theft. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by Habaraduwa MOH Siriwardena at the Habaraduwa Police Station yesterday (16).
According to the complaint lodged by the doctor, the value of the stock of Sinopharm injections allegedly stolen is around Rs. 90,000.
The Galle SSP has ordered the Galle Divisional Crime Unit to conduct a special investigation into the incident.
A team of officers from the Galle Divisional Crime Unit is also investigating the recent misuse of vaccines at the District Medical Officer's Office in Unawatuna, Galle.
