The two spectators who jumped to the Kandy Lake when elephants in the second Kumbal Perahera procession ran amok yesterday (22), were immediately rescued and are safe, Kandy police said.
Crowds were gathered near the cloud walls to watch the Perahera last night when several elephants went on a rampage. The two panicked women had jumped to the lake, but were immediately rescued by police and navy lifesavers, police said.
