Two young men who assaulted hospital staff yesterday (28), after riding their motorcycle into the Jaffna Teaching Hospital building, were placed in remand custody till June 11, by the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court.
The motorcycle rider who accompanied a person with cut injuries to be admitted to hospital had taken the bike to the reception area.
The motorcyclist who entered the hospital is said to have been intoxicated, and the hospital’s CCTV footage shows him acting restlessly inside the hospital premises.
Upon being questioned by hospital officials about why he had arrived on a motorcycle, the motorcycle rider had attacked one of the staff members using a nearby printer.
A hospital employee was injured in the incident.
The staff had handed over the rider to the Jaffna Police.
Police had detained the person who arrived with injuries as well. They were produced in court yesterday.
According to police investigations, the concerned youths had thrown a party where an argument had ended up in a fight.
