The Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Police has detained an American citizen with live ammunition while on his way out of the country.
He was in possession of ten rounds of live 9mm ammunition.
The US national and another female had travelled to Sri Lanka on December 7 in order to attend the wedding of her friend in Malabe, Colombo.
As he passed through the screening device at the airport's departure terminal, the live ammo was discovered. The suspect is a licensed gun owner who is entitled to own weapons in his nation.
