Forty four persons from the Veddha community in Dambanda including the wife of Uruwarige Wannile, the chief, have been infected with COVID-19, medical sources said.
This was after 115 persons in the clan as well as other villages were subjected to the Rapid Antigen Test.
The Veddha chief's wife has been admitted to the Mahiyanganaya hospital. The others were subjected to home quarantine.
