He said that out of the total number of applicants the highest percent of applicants were from Kalutara district which is 46 percent. It was followed by Badulla and Galle district which had a verification rate of 34 and 32 percent respectively.
The state Minister also explained that the process of verifying whether 3.7 million applications received from 334 Divisional Secretariats across the country are eligible for receiving welfare allowances is being conducted systematically.
Mr Samarasinhe also pointed out that the ongoing verification survey on the eligibility of the welfare allowance would conclude at the end of this month and failure to provide accurate information prior to the deadline would lead towards loss of welfare benefits.
