Wimal Weerawansa, the leader of the National Freedom Front accused of using a passport that had expired has been acquitted of the charges by the Negombo Magistrate’s court today.
Weerawansa’s lawyers told courts that he had accidently brought an old passport to the Airport while trying to travel overseas in 2015.
They said he had lost the particular passport and found it only later after he had taken a new passport. He had accidentally brought the old passport to the airport.
