A 53-year-old woman was killed yesterday after a section of her saree got caught in the rear wheel of the motorbike she was riding, resulting in the bike toppling on the road.
Police said the incident occurred last morning in Polpithigama. The victim suffered serious injuries in the accident and was rushed to the Hiripitiya Hospital before being transferred to Kurunegala Hospital for further treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries.
The victim is a resident of Nikadalupotha. Polpithigama Police are investigating.
