The body of a 48-year-old woman was exhumed on residential premises today in Maniyanthoddam, Jaffna along with her motorbike, police said.
Police suspect the woman was murdered by a couple over a credit dispute and later was buried in the backyard. Earlier, the family of the victim lodged a complaint with the police on April 1 about the disappearance of the woman.
A preliminary probe revealed the woman went to demand the money she loaned to the couple.
The body was recovered in the presence of Jaffna Magistrate A.A. Aanadarsa under the directives of Judicial Medical Officer S. Pranavan.
The couple and the son are currently under custody over their alleged involvement in the murder. Pix- N. Lohathayalan
