A man who got away with an ATM card of a woman and later withdrew Rs 200,000 from a state bank in Diyathalawa has been arrested, Police said today.
The woman who was not familiar with the procedure in making use of the ATM card had sought the help of a person near the machine to withdraw money.
The man had inserted the card and claimed the card was not working and returned a card to her.
The woman had left the location, but a few minutes later she received an SMS stating that Rs 200,000 had been withdrawn from her account.
She had informed the Police and in turn the police had located the suspect travelling in a bus.
The suspect had admitted that he had taken away the card of the woman and withdrew Rs. 200,000 after giving her an old card.
