The World Bank has agreed to provide a loan of USD50 million for the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccines, Health Ministry official said.
Until the loan is received the money will be released from the Treasury for the purchase of the vaccines.
The funds will be made use to purchase the remaining requirements of the vaccines.
The Government is expecting free doses of the vaccines from China and Russia in addition to the free supply of 500,000 vaccines.
In addition the government is expecting 20 per cent of the requirement of the vaccines from the WHO.
