The debate on the X-Press Pearl disaster has been extended for two days as the second reading of the Central Bank Bill has been postponed.
Accordingly, the Adjournment Debate brought in by the Opposition will be held on the 10th and the 11th from 9.30 am. to 6.00 pm.
This was decided at the Committee on Parliamentary Business held today (9) under the Chairmanship of Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Speaker.
In the interim, Minister of Justice, Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe appealed to the Speaker today in the parliament to cancel the debate which is to take place tomorrow regarding the sinking of the Xpress Pearl ship as it would have an impact on the case filed in Singapore.
