A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death in Kotahena last night during an argument over a mobile phone, police said.
The victim, a resident of Sri Gunananda Mawatha, Kotahena, had been living with his parents and sister. A friend of the deceased had visited him last evening and they had then proceeded to a spot near the transformer on Sri Gunananda Mawatha to speak to another individual.
Police Media Unit said initial inquiries had revealed that an argument had broken out between the victim and this individual over a mobile phone, after which the suspect had pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
He was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The suspect has been identified and Kotahena Police are conducting investigations to arrest him.
