A youth has been murdered on Nagalagam Road in Grandpass, Police said today (July 6).
While the victim was walking along Nagalagam Street yesterday evening, a group of people chased him and tried to attack him.
The victim ran into a nearby shop, where the suspects attacked him with sharp weapons and escaped.
The victim, who was seriously injured in the incident, passed away while being taken to the hospital by the local residents.
The Police began investigations in regard, based on a message received by the Grandpass Police Station through the 119 emergency hotline.
The deceased was 25 years old and a resident of Wadullawatta in the Wellampitiya area and investigations have revealed that the murder was a result of personal dispute.
The suspects involved in the incident have been identified and the Grandpass Police are conducting further investigations to arrest them.
