The government have planned to introduce a standard colourless packing for tobacco products,Co Cabinet Spokesman Dr Rijitha Senaratne told.
He said that the decision was taken as a measurer to reduce death caused by use of Tobacco in the future. He explained that the product packaging can only display compulsory government health warning, trade and product names, quantity of production along with information and trade marks,
Mr Senaratne explained that the packaging of the tobacco products must be in a single non attractive colour as white or black.
Meanwhile he also said that he will soon amend the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Act or instruct the legal Draftsman to prepare new drafts for the regulation for the act.
