The Attorney General has instructed the Acting Police Chief to conduct criminal investigations against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando over the failure to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.
These instructions have been issued in line with the recommendations issued by the Special Investigation Committee which was appointed to probe into the Easter Sunday attacks.
Last week, Attorney General Dappula de Livera instructed the Acting Police Chief to conduct a criminal and disciplinary inquiry against nine senior police officials over the failure to prevent terrorist bombings.
