The Attorney General has instructed the Defence Secretary and Army Commander to take action against military personnel accused of involement in two high-profile cases.
State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, the AG's Co-ordinating Officer said that the cases involve the Rathupasawala shooting incident, and the abduction of journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.
Four army personnel face charges under the Criminal Procedure Code over the shooting which killed three and left 45 injured for staging a protest demanding clean drinking water in 2013.
Further, seven suspects including Lieutenant Colonels Shammi Karunarathna and Prabodha Siriwardena over the abduction of journalist Eknaligoda in 2010.
